Hmong Translation Inititative
The Hmong Translation Initiative is a multi-year family literacy project aimed at increasing literacy for Hmong children and their families. This initiative includes the translation and publication of high-quality children's literature into White Hmong and Green Mong. In addition, it provides specialized training for Hmong educators and social service providers to conduct classes using the translated books. The Humanities Center has also developed "Tips for Reading with Your Children" that are available in multiple languages, including White Hmong and Green Mong.

In early 1998, members of the Hmong community encouraged the Humanities Center to coordinate these education and literacy efforts. The Hmong community has provided valuable assistance in the book selection and translation review process.

All books can be ordered through the Finney Company by calling 952-469-6699 or 800-846-7027 or by mailing in an order form. The list prices are $6.95 or $7.95 per title. At this time, 17 titles have been published. See the books for yourself. See related upcoming events.
