Teacher-Developed
Activities and
Seminar Graduate Credit Assignments
As educators
become more connected to resources through the Internet, the Humanities
Center has committed itself to offering online materials to enhance
the teaching of humanities topics. "Teacher-Developed Activities"
- the "T-DA!" from seminars - will be included in these
online materials. Submitting a T-DA! is the required assignment
for any seminar participant seeking graduate credit for a seminar;
however, all teacher participants are invited to translate what
they've learned through these seminars into activities for others
to use.
The Humanities
Center's teacher-developed activities wiil generate supplemental
activities that enhance or enrich a unit already in place in a classroom.
Many past seminar attendees have reported that they prefer activities
they can embed in their own lessons rather than try to import someone
else's entire lesson or unit. Although units and lessons are important
resources for teachers, many districts have locally developed curriculum
and assessments that support the placement of State Standards. These
teacher-developed activities allow flexibility for valuable seminar
materials to be used no matter where a school or district has placed
standards in the curriculum.
